What Does WYSIWYG Mean?
WYSIWYG means What You See Is What You Get.
Unlike stock photography or representative livestock images, the coral shown in the primary product photographs is the exact specimen being offered for sale. Natural coloration may appear different depending on aquarium lighting, camera settings, viewing angle, and water conditions.
Because this is a one-of-a-kind specimen, only one colony is available.
General Care Information
- Care Level: Beginner to Intermediate (Very hardy once your tank is cycled!)
- Coral Type: LPS (Euphyllia paraancora)
- Lighting: Low to moderate (100–120 PAR)
- Water Flow: Low to moderate and indirect
- Placement: Lower to middle areas of the aquarium rockwork
- Temperament: Aggressive (Aggressive toward non-Euphyllia)
- Aquarium Maturity: Established reef aquarium recommended
Placement & Flow
Place this branching specimen where its polyps can extend naturally without being subjected to direct or excessively strong powerhead flow. Provide generous spacing (at least a few inches) from neighboring non-hammer corals, as hammer corals can produce long, stinging sweeper tentacles capable of damaging nearby specimens.
Chemistry & Parameters
Stable salinity, alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, temperature, and nutrient levels are critical for maintaining healthy tissue extension and skeletal growth. Sudden changes in lighting spectrum or water chemistry should be strictly avoided.
Supplemental Feeding
Supplemental feeding is optional but highly encouraged to support faster head division. Small portions of appropriately sized meaty reef foods (like mysis shrimp or specialized LPS pellets) may be offered periodically when tentacles are extended.
Recommended For
- Established mixed reef aquariums
- Reef keepers of all experience levels looking for a hardy LPS showpiece
- Hobbyists looking for an immediate centerpiece with high visual movement
- Collectors seeking a substantial, true-to-color WYSIWYG colony
Important Livestock Notice
Corals are living animals, and their appearance can naturally change during transit. Polyps will likely arrive retracted inside the skeleton and can require a few days to fully expand and settle after acclimation.
Color intensity will vary under different lighting spectrums. The vibrant metallic gradients shown in our product photographs are captured under heavy blue-spectrum reef lighting with an orange contrast lens. Always inspect and, when appropriate, dip and quarantine new coral before introducing it to your established display aquarium.
