Hammer coral

Hammer Corals (Euphyllia)
Transform your reef aquarium with the dynamic motion and striking color gradients of Hammer Corals(Euphyllia ancora and Euphyllia paraancora). Widely celebrated as one of the most iconic large polyp stony (LPS) corals in the marine hobby, Hammer corals are loved for their anchor- or hammer-shaped tentacle tips that sway beautifully in the water column. Whether you are looking for classic branching neon varieties or ultra collector-grade holographic morphs, our carefully curated collection offers stunning centerpieces for reef keepers at every level.

Why Choose Hammer Corals?
  • Captivating Visual Movement: Unlike rigid corals, Hammers add fluid, rhythmic motion to your rockwork, bringing a natural ocean-reef energy into your display display tank.
  • Beginner-Friendly Hardiness: Once acclimated to a cycled, stable reef system, Hammer corals are incredibly resilient. They adapt well to standard reef environments, making them a fantastic first stepping stone into stony coral keeping.
  • Vibrant Fluorescence: Under blue actinic lighting, Hammer coral tips glow with intense fluorescence, showcasing brilliant shades of gold, toxic green, deep purple, and orange.

General Care & Placement Guide
To ensure maximum polyp extension and long-term health, place your Hammer corals in the lower-to-middle regions of your aquarium rockwork. They thrive under low-to-moderate, indirect lighting (approx. 75–150 PAR) and prefer a gentle, swaying water flow. Avoid placing them directly in front of high-pressure wavemakers, as intense flow can tear their delicate flesh against their sharp skeletal structures.
Note: Hammer corals possess stinging sweeper tentacles. While different Hammer varieties can generally touch one another safely, please provide at least a few inches of clearance from other coral families to prevent aggressive stinging.
