Sicce UV-C Submersible & Inline Aquarium Clarifier – 7W, 9W & 13W

Improve water clarity and help control free-floating algae, bacteria and other unwanted microorganisms with the Sicce UV-C Clarifier Series. Available in 7-watt, 9-watt and 13-watt configurations, these compact UV-C units are designed for freshwater aquariums, saltwater aquariums, turtle tanks and compatible pond installations.

The IP68-rated housing can be fully submerged inside an aquarium sump or pond, or the clarifier can be installed externally in-line with a compatible pump or canister filter. Included hose fittings make connecting the unit to flexible tubing straightforward.

Water is directed past the included UV-C lamp inside a protective quartz sleeve. The controlled exposure helps reduce suspended microorganisms and free-floating algae that can contribute to cloudy or green water.

Flexible Installation

The Sicce UV-C Clarifier can be installed in several configurations according to the needs of the aquarium or pond.

Submerged Installation

The IP68-rated clarifier can be placed directly inside an aquarium sump, filter chamber or compatible pond installation. A separate pump is required to move water through the unit.

External Inline Installation

The clarifier can be connected to a compatible water pump or canister filter using flexible tubing and the included hose fittings. The unit may be positioned vertically or horizontally when installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

How UV-C Clarification Works

As aquarium or pond water passes through the clarifier, it is exposed to UV-C light inside the enclosed housing. This exposure helps disrupt free-floating algae and microorganisms before the water returns to the system.

UV-C clarification can help improve water clarity, but it does not replace mechanical filtration, biological filtration, routine water changes or proper aquarium maintenance.

Correct Flow Matters

UV-C performance depends on the amount of time water remains inside the exposure chamber. Excessive flow may reduce contact time and limit the effectiveness of the clarifier.

Choose a pump and adjust the flow according to the recommendation for the selected wattage:

• 7W: 50–130 GPH
• 9W: 100–200 GPH
• 13W: 150–400 GPH

Actual performance may vary according to the aquarium or pond volume, water clarity, plumbing configuration, flow rate and the condition of the UV-C lamp.

Maintenance Information

Inspect and clean the quartz sleeve periodically to remove mineral deposits and buildup that may reduce UV-C transmission. Replace the UV-C lamp according to the manufacturer’s recommended schedule or when its effectiveness declines.

Always disconnect the clarifier from electrical power before opening, cleaning or servicing it. Never look directly at an illuminated UV-C lamp or operate the lamp outside its enclosed housing.

Important Selection Information

Select the model according to the aquarium or pond volume and the actual flow rate passing through the clarifier. Larger systems or applications requiring more aggressive UV treatment may require a larger unit, slower flow or additional UV capacity.

The 7W, 9W and standard 13W models include 10-foot power cords. The 13W Pond model includes an extra-long 20-foot cord for compatible outdoor installations.
