Grow your own supply of beneficial purple non-sulfur bacteria with Hydrospace PNS HomeGro, a complete cultivation kit designed to make producing large quantities of PNSB practical and economical for serious aquarists.

Rather than repeatedly purchasing smaller bottles of pre-grown bacteria, HomeGro provides the essential components needed to cultivate a large batch at home. The finished culture can treat approximately 8,000 gallons, making HomeGro particularly useful for large aquariums, multi-tank systems, fish rooms and high-volume aquarium keepers.

Why PNS HomeGro?

Grow Your Own PNS Bacteria
HomeGro provides the core materials needed to cultivate purple non-sulfur bacteria rather than relying exclusively on pre-grown bottled cultures.

Treats Approximately 8,000 Gallons
A completed culture provides enough PNSB to treat approximately 8,000 gallons of aquarium water.

Designed for High-Volume Use
A great option for large displays, multiple aquariums, fish rooms and aquarists who regularly incorporate PNS bacteria into their aquarium routine.

Reduce Packaging & Shipping Waste
Growing bacteria at home reduces the need to repeatedly ship and dispose of smaller bottles, providing a more efficient approach for frequent users.

Complete Cultivation System
The kit provides the specialized vessel, bacterial inoculum and growth medium needed to get the culture started.

What's Included?

The Hydrospace PNS HomeGro kit includes:

2.5 Gallon Culture Vessel
Cap & Spigot
Sticker Thermometer
Growth Medium Powder
PNSB Inoculum Bottle

The inoculum contains a selected blend of probiotic purple non-sulfur bacteria cultures.

Additional Supplies Required

Some common household supplies are required to prepare and maintain the culture, including purified water, a kitchen funnel and thermometer, unscented household bleach, hydrogen peroxide, isopropyl alcohol and an appropriate light source. Temperature control may also be needed depending on the environment.

Cultivation

PNS HomeGro requires careful preparation and sanitation before inoculation.

After preparing the supplied growth medium and introducing the PNSB inoculum, the culture should be maintained at approximately 82–86°F (28–30°C) under continuous moderate light.

Complete incubation generally takes around 30 days or longer. The culture is considered mature when additional growth has stopped for at least five consecutive days.

Always follow the complete Hydrospace cultivation instructions included with the kit before beginning.
