Add dramatic color and fleshy texture to your reef with this Vampire Blastomussa Colony. Its contrasting coloration and large, inflated polyps make it an excellent centerpiece for a lower-light section of an established reef aquarium.
This is a WYSIWYG coral. You will receive the exact colony shown in the product images.
Care Requirements
• Coral type: LPS
• Scientific name: Blastomussa species
• Care level: Easy to moderate
• Temperament: Peaceful
• Lighting: Low to moderate
• Water flow: Low to moderate
• Placement: Lower to middle area of the aquarium
• Feeding: Photosynthetic, with optional supplemental feeding
• Growth form: Encrusting colony with large fleshy polyps
Placement and Care
Place the colony in an area with gentle, indirect water movement. Excessively strong flow can prevent the polyps from fully expanding or damage their fleshy tissue.
Begin under lower lighting and gradually acclimate the coral if moving it into a brighter location. Blastomussa generally responds well to stable water parameters and should be kept away from aggressive neighboring corals.
Although photosynthetic, occasional target feeding with appropriately sized coral food, mysis shrimp, or other meaty marine foods may encourage growth and fuller polyp extension.
Recommended Water Parameters
• Temperature: 75–79°F

• Calcium: 400–450 ppm
• Magnesium: 1250–1400 ppm
