The Sinularia Finger Leather Coral is a hardy, fast-growing soft coral that adds natural movement and attractive branching growth to a reef aquarium. Its finger-like branches gently sway with the current, creating texture and movement throughout the display.

This adaptable coral tolerates a range of lighting and flow conditions, making it an excellent choice for beginners as well as established soft coral and mixed reef systems. Each specimen is aquacultured and approximately 2–3 inches in size.

Placement and Water Flow

Place the Sinularia Finger Leather Coral in an area receiving low-to-moderate indirect water flow. Its branches should move gently without being continuously blasted by a powerhead.

Begin with lower lighting and gradually acclimate the coral if it will be placed under stronger reef lighting. Leave adequate space around the coral to accommodate its potentially rapid growth.

Although Sinularia is generally peaceful, leather corals may release natural chemical compounds that can irritate neighboring corals. Good water circulation, routine water changes, adequate spacing, and activated carbon are recommended in mixed reef aquariums.

Feeding

Sinularia receives most of its energy through photosynthesis and generally does not require direct feeding. It may benefit from dissolved nutrients and appropriately sized coral foods available in the aquarium.

Avoid overfeeding, as maintaining stable water quality is more important than frequent direct feeding.

Leather corals may arrive closed, contracted, or covered by a smooth or waxy-looking surface. They may also remain closed while adjusting to new aquarium conditions. This is commonly associated with shipping, handling, acclimation, or the coral’s natural shedding process.

Allow the coral time to adjust and avoid unnecessary handling. Proper lighting, moderate water movement, and stable water quality will help support its recovery and continued growth.

Acclimation

Monitor tracking closely and unpack the coral immediately after delivery.

• Dim the aquarium lights before acclimation.
• Float the sealed bag for 15–20 minutes to equalize temperature.
• Gradually acclimate the coral to the aquarium’s water conditions.
• Place it in an area with lower lighting and gentle flow initially.
• Gradually move it to its intended placement after it has adjusted.
• Avoid exposing the coral to air longer than necessary.
