Powerful, quiet, and easy to maintain, the Sicce Whale 500 Aquarium Canister Filter provides dependable multi-stage filtration for larger freshwater and saltwater aquariums.

With a maximum flow rate of 390 GPH and approximately 2 gallons of usable filtration-media capacity, the Whale 500 offers plenty of room for mechanical, biological, and chemical filtration. Four removable media baskets make it easy to customize the filter according to the needs of your aquarium.

Its compact external design fits inside most aquarium stands, while the double-insulated pump wall and advanced rotor design help maintain quiet operation. A convenient quick-disconnect system allows the canister to be separated from its hoses during maintenance without completely dismantling the aquarium plumbing.

Important Sizing Information

Aquarium filtration requirements vary based on stocking level, feeding habits, aquarium type, and maintenance schedule. Heavily stocked aquariums, predator systems, and aquariums containing messy fish may require additional filtration or a larger filter.

The advertised 390 GPH is the pump’s maximum flow rate. Actual operating flow may be lower once filtration media, tubing, aquarium height, and normal buildup are considered.
