Reef Octopus BioSphere Bio Pellets | Premium Biopellet Media for Reef Aquariums

Complete your nutrient export system with Reef Octopus BioSphere Bio Pellets, a premium solid carbon source designed to naturally reduce nitrate and phosphate levels in marine aquariums.

BioSphere Bio Pellets provide beneficial bacteria with a continuous food source, allowing them to grow on the surface of the pellets while consuming excess nutrients from the water. As these bacteria multiply, they are exported through your protein skimmer, helping create a cleaner, healthier, and more stable reef aquarium.

The Perfect Media for Your Reef Octopus Biopellet Reactor

These pellets are specifically designed to pair with:

• Reef Octopus BioChurn 120INT Biopellet Reactor

• Reef Octopus BR2000SS Space Saver Biopellet Reactor

Both reactors are engineered to keep BioSphere pellets in gentle, continuous motion for maximum bacterial colonization and nutrient export. When used together, they create a highly effective biological filtration system for reducing nitrate and phosphate naturally.

Why Use BioSphere Bio Pellets?

Many reef aquariums eventually develop elevated nutrients due to:

• Heavy fish stocking

• Frequent feeding

• Growing coral collections

• Organic waste accumulation

BioSphere Bio Pellets help beneficial bacteria convert these excess nutrients into biomass that your protein skimmer can remove from the aquarium, helping maintain cleaner water and reducing nuisance algae.

Key Features

100% Natural PHA Polymer

Manufactured using pure Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA), a biodegradable carbon source that naturally supports beneficial bacteria growth without harmful fillers or binders.

Naturally Reduces Nitrate & Phosphate

Helps maintain low nutrient levels while promoting a healthier reef environment.

Self-Regulating Media

As bacteria consume the pellets, the media slowly dissolves over time, requiring only periodic replenishment.

Improves Protein Skimmer Performance

As bacteria multiply, your protein skimmer removes them from the water column, physically exporting nutrients from your aquarium.

Safe for Marine Aquariums

Suitable for reef aquariums, fish-only saltwater systems, and heavily stocked marine tanks.

How to Use

For best results:

• Use approximately 100–150 mL per 25 gallons of total system water.

• Introduce new biopellets gradually over several weeks to avoid sudden nutrient swings.

• Keep the pellets in gentle continuous motion inside a properly sized biopellet reactor.

• Direct the reactor's output toward your protein skimmer whenever possible for maximum nutrient export.

Available Sizes

• 500 mL

• 1,000 mL

• ½ Gallon Bulk

• 1 Gallon Bulk

Availability may vary by supplier.

Maintenance Tips

BioSphere Bio Pellets slowly dissolve as they are consumed by beneficial bacteria.

Most aquariums require topping off the media every few months, with a complete replacement generally taking 8–12 months, depending on nutrient load and system demand. Regular nitrate and phosphate testing is recommended to monitor reactor performance.
