Aquascaping Benefits

Shelf rock makes it easy to create multiple levels throughout the aquarium. Pieces can be stacked, bridged or secured to base rocks to form elevated coral platforms and open swimming areas.

The wide surfaces are especially useful for SPS frags, encrusting Montipora, zoanthids, LPS corals and clams. Areas beneath the shelves can provide shelter for shy fish and placement zones for corals that prefer lower light.

Preparation and Cycling

Rinse the rock thoroughly with RO/DI water before placing it in the aquarium to remove dust created during packaging and transportation. This rock arrives biologically sterile and must be properly cycled or seeded with beneficial bacteria before livestock is introduced.
