Add beautiful movement and soft, flowing color to your reef with the ORA Marshall Island Hammer Coral. This branching large-polyp stony coral features fleshy tentacles ending in distinctive hammer or anchor-shaped tips.
Its expanded polyps sway gently with the aquarium’s current, bringing natural movement to the reefscape. Depending on the aquarium lighting, its coloration may develop attractive shades of green, tan, pink, or mauve with fluorescent tips.
Cultured for years through ORA’s Marshall Islands Mariculture Farm, this established variety generally transitions to aquarium life more readily than a newly collected wild colony.

Placement and Water Flow
Place the Marshall Island Hammer Coral where it will receive moderate, indirect water movement. Its fleshy tentacles should sway gently without being forcefully pushed against the underlying skeleton.
Although it can adapt to multiple placement levels, begin in a lower or moderately lit area and adjust its position after observing tissue expansion and coloration.
Lighting and Acclimation
Medium-to-high reef lighting supports healthy growth and coloration. Its colors may appear different under daylight, blue, and actinic lighting, with pink, mauve, and fluorescent tones becoming more noticeable under certain spectrums.
Gradually acclimate the coral when introducing it to brighter lighting to reduce the possibility of stress or bleaching.
Compatibility and Spacing
Hammer corals can produce extended sweeper tentacles capable of stinging nearby corals. Leave approximately 6 inches of open space between this specimen and unrelated neighboring corals.
Hammer corals may sometimes tolerate other closely related Euphyllia or Fimbriaphyllia corals, but compatibility is never guaranteed. Monitor all neighboring specimens carefully.
Aquarium Stability
Maintain stable alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, salinity, temperature, and nutrient levels. Avoid sudden changes in water chemistry, lighting intensity, or flow.
Ensure that the coral’s fleshy tissue does not rub against sharp rockwork or its exposed skeleton.
Feeding
The Marshall Island Hammer Coral obtains much of its energy through photosynthesis but may benefit from occasional supplemental feeding.
Small pieces of meaty marine food or appropriately sized coral food may be offered when a feeding response is visible. Avoid forcing food into its mouth or providing pieces that are too large.
