Add a dramatic combination of blue, white and yellow to your reef aquarium with the ORA Captive-Bred Sunrise Dottyback. This striking Red Sea species features a rich blue body, pale underside and brilliant yellow stripe extending from the snout along the back to the tail.
ORA’s broodstock originated from Egyptian waters and was selected to produce exceptionally blue Sunrise Dottybacks. Captive-bred specimens are hardy, easy to feed and already accustomed to life in an aquarium.
In nature, Sunrise Dottybacks live individually around coral heads and rocky rubble, darting from their hiding places to capture passing food. Similar behavior can be enjoyed in an aquarium with plenty of caves and live rock.

AQUARIUM CARE
Provide a fully cycled saltwater aquarium with abundant live rock, caves, crevices and shaded overhangs. Sunrise Dottybacks naturally establish a territory around rocky hiding places and may become stressed or excessively territorial when adequate shelter is unavailable.
A secure lid or mesh aquarium cover is strongly recommended because dottybacks may jump when startled.
The Sunrise Dottyback may initially remain close to the rockwork after introduction. Once comfortable, it will usually become more visible as it patrols its territory and searches for food.
TEMPERAMENT AND COMPATIBILITY
Sunrise Dottybacks are moderately territorial but can generally be maintained with compatible gobies, blennies, clownfish and other appropriately sized reef fish.
Use caution with extremely timid fish, hesitant feeders and other similarly shaped dottybacks. In smaller aquariums, the Sunrise Dottyback should be one of the last fish introduced so established peaceful fish have time to claim their own territories.
Keep one Sunrise Dottyback per aquarium unless introducing a known compatible pair or maintaining multiple specimens in a substantially larger system specifically arranged with separate territories.
REEF AND INVERTEBRATE COMPATIBILITY
The Sunrise Dottyback is considered coral safe and may be housed in SPS, LPS and soft coral reef aquariums.
Like many dottybacks, it may consume very small shrimp, worms and other tiny crustaceans. Use caution when keeping it with delicate ornamental invertebrates.
DIET AND FEEDING
Offer a varied diet of high-quality meaty marine foods, including:
• Mysis shrimp
• Enriched brine shrimp
• Finely chopped krill
• Marine plankton
• High-quality marine pellets
• Marine flakes
• Prepared frozen marine foods
Feed one to three small meals daily, offering only what the fish can consume within a few minutes. A varied, nutrient-rich diet helps maintain its intense blue and yellow coloration.
