ORA Candy Cane Coral – Aquacultured
Add colorful, fleshy polyps and easy-care LPS growth to your reef with the ORA Candy Cane Coral. Also known as a Trumpet Coral, this hardy species develops thick, calcified branches topped with attractive two-toned polyps and delicate white striping.

Placement and Water Flow
Place the Candy Cane Coral where it will receive moderate, indirect water movement. Its fleshy polyps should move gently without being pushed forcefully against the underlying skeleton.
It can adapt to multiple placement levels depending on the aquarium’s lighting intensity. Lower or middle placement is usually a comfortable starting point.
Leave several inches between this coral and neighboring specimens to allow for tissue expansion, feeding tentacles, and future colony growth.
Lighting and Acclimation
Medium-to-high reef lighting supports healthy growth and coloration. Begin the coral under moderate lighting and gradually acclimate it before moving it into brighter conditions.
The coral’s colors may appear different under daylight, blue, and actinic lighting. Its striping and fluorescent tones are often especially visible under blue-spectrum reef lights.
Aquarium Stability
Regularly monitor alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, salinity, and temperature. Stable parameters support skeletal development and healthy polyp growth.
Candy Cane Corals are considered hardy, but rapid changes in water chemistry or salinity can still cause their fleshy polyps to retract.
Feeding
The Candy Cane Coral receives much of its energy through photosynthesis but can benefit from occasional supplemental feeding.
Small pieces of meaty marine food or appropriately sized coral food may be offered when its feeding tentacles are extended. Avoid placing oversized food directly onto the coral.
