Aquarium Care & Placement

A live clam needs a mature, stable reef with lighting matched to its species, clear water and protected placement. Acclimate gradually to light, avoid damaging the byssal area, and check that fish or invertebrates are not persistently picking at its mantle.

Feeding & Ongoing Care

Monitor alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, temperature and salinity. Plan for the adult size of the identified species; purchase size is not its final size. Do not use coral disinfectant dips on clams. Ask us about species-specific placement before ordering.
