Power your aquarium’s circulation with the intelligent, efficient, and highly controllable Neptune Systems COR-20 Return Pump.
The COR-20 is a variable-speed, brushless DC centrifugal pump capable of producing up to 2,000 GPH while consuming no more than approximately 90 watts. It can be installed internally or externally and includes multiple plumbing fittings for integration with a variety of aquarium systems.
An Apex controller is not required. The included COR-20 driver and external power supply allow the pump to operate independently with onboard speed and feed-mode controls. Connecting the COR-20 to a compatible Neptune Systems Apex through AquaBus unlocks advanced programming, remote monitoring, operational feedback, alerts, and integration with other aquarium equipment.
IMPORTANT COMPATIBILITY INFORMATION
The Neptune Systems COR-20 can operate as a standalone return pump and includes its own driver and 100-watt power supply.
A Neptune Systems Apex controller is optional and is only required for advanced Apex Fusion control, remote monitoring, alerts, and aquarium automation.

STANDALONE OPERATION
The COR-20 includes its own controller and external power supply, allowing it to operate without an Apex system.
The onboard driver provides basic control over pump speed and feed mode. This makes the COR-20 suitable for customers who want a premium controllable return pump today while retaining the option to add Apex integration later.
APEX INTEGRATION
Connecting the COR-20 driver to a compatible Apex system through AquaBus unlocks additional monitoring and control through Apex Fusion.
Depending on your Apex configuration and programming, you can:
• Adjust pump output remotely
• Incorporate the pump into feed modes
• Create maintenance routines
• Monitor operational status
• Receive obstruction and temperature alerts
• Coordinate the pump with water-level sensors
• Create customized minimum and maximum operating speeds
• Integrate the return pump with other Apex-controlled equipment
IQ-LEVEL TECHNOLOGY
IQ-Level allows the minimum and maximum pump-output settings to be customized for your aquarium and plumbing.
After configuration, the pump’s operating range can be adjusted without accidentally exceeding the practical flow limits of the aquarium or dropping below the minimum flow required during feed modes.
OBSTRUCTION DETECTION
Snails, debris, filter material, and mineral buildup can obstruct a return pump or its plumbing.
If the COR-20 detects a significant obstruction, the driver provides a visual alert. When connected to an Apex system with internet access, the pump can also send an alert through Apex Fusion.
INTERNAL TEMPERATURE MONITORING
The COR-20 continually monitors the internal temperature of its motor.
If the motor reaches an unsafe temperature, the driver can reduce pump speed to bring the temperature back within an acceptable range. When connected to Apex Fusion, the system can also provide a notification so the issue can be investigated.
INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL INSTALLATION
The COR-20 is designed for either submerged installation inside a sump or external installation in an appropriate return-pump configuration.
The pump is not self-priming. External installations must be positioned and plumbed so the pump remains properly flooded during operation.
FLOW AND PERFORMANCE
• Maximum Flow: Approximately 2,000 GPH
• Maximum Head Pressure: Approximately 20 feet
• Maximum Power Consumption: Approximately 90 watts
• Motor Type: Variable-speed brushless DC centrifugal pump
• Installation: Internal or external
• Control: Included driver with optional Apex integration
Actual flow depends on plumbing diameter, vertical rise, fittings, valves, restrictions, and other system conditions.
For maximum performance, Neptune Systems recommends using the largest practical plumbing diameter. The included 1.25-inch union provides the least restrictive output option.
PUMP DIMENSIONS
Approximately:
• 3.875 inches wide
• 4.875 inches high
• 6.25 inches deep
DRIVER DIMENSIONS
Approximately:
• 3 inches wide
• 4 inches high
• 1 inch deep
PLUMBING CONNECTIONS
• Intake: 1-inch slip PVC
• Output: 3/4-inch slip PVC or included 1.25-inch slip-to-BSPP union
• Additional 1-inch slip fitting included
Always verify plumbing compatibility and required fittings before installation.

IMPORTANT INSTALLATION INFORMATION
The COR-20 is not self-priming. Confirm that the pump is properly flooded before operation when installed externally.
Never allow the pump to operate dry. Use properly installed unions and valves so the pump can be safely removed for inspection and cleaning.
Mount the driver and power supply in a dry, ventilated location protected from leaks, splashes, salt spray, and condensation. Install drip loops on all electrical cables and use properly grounded, GFCI-protected electrical circuits.
Regularly inspect and clean the pump, impeller, intake, output, and plumbing to remove mineral buildup and debris.
