Know exactly how water is moving through your aquarium with the Neptune Systems Apex FMK Flow Monitoring Kit.
The FMK combines a Neptune Systems Fluid Monitoring Module with three flow sensors, allowing a compatible Apex controller to measure and record the actual flow through return lines, reactors, ultraviolet sterilizers, and other aquarium equipment.
Instead of relying only on a pump’s advertised flow rate, the FMK shows how much water is moving through your plumbing after accounting for head pressure, fittings, valves, and equipment restrictions. Apex Fusion can display the measurements, track changes over time, and send alerts when flow moves outside your programmed range.
The included 1-inch flow sensor is ideal for monitoring a primary return line, while the two included 1/2-inch sensors can monitor equipment such as media reactors, UV sterilizers, and other auxiliary plumbing lines.
KEY FEATURES
• Measures actual water flow through aquarium plumbing
• Includes three flow sensors for monitoring multiple lines
• Tracks flow measurements through a compatible Apex system
• Displays current and historical flow data in Apex Fusion
• Supports programmable high-flow and low-flow alerts
• Helps identify clogged filters, dirty pumps, closed valves, and restricted plumbing
• Can monitor return pumps, reactors, UV sterilizers, and other equipment
• FMM includes four sensor ports for future expansion
• Powered and connected through AquaBus
• Compatible with Neptune Systems Apex controllers
COMMON USES
• Monitoring aquarium return-pump flow
• Measuring flow through a UV sterilizer
• Checking flow through media and carbon reactors
• Detecting a dirty or restricted pump
• Identifying clogged tubing, filters, or plumbing
• Confirming that valves are correctly positioned
• Creating Apex alerts when flow drops unexpectedly
• Tracking equipment performance between maintenance intervals
• Monitoring multiple aquarium plumbing lines from one module
HOW IT WORKS
The flow sensors are installed directly into compatible aquarium plumbing. As water moves through each sensor, the attached Fluid Monitoring Module sends the measured flow information to your Apex controller.
The readings can then be viewed and tracked through Apex Fusion. Apex programming can be configured to send alerts or control compatible equipment if flow rises above or falls below your selected limits.
INCLUDED SENSOR SIZES
• One 1-inch flow sensor for higher-flow plumbing applications
• Two 1/2-inch flow sensors for lower-flow equipment lines
Always select a sensor that matches the expected flow range and plumbing size of the equipment being monitored.
COMPATIBILITY
Requires a compatible Neptune Systems Apex controller.
The included Fluid Monitoring Module connects to the Apex system through AquaBus. The FMK works with Apex models that support AquaBus expansion modules.
Additional flow sensors, leak-detection probes, optical sensors, pumps, Energy Bars, and other Apex equipment are sold separately.
PLUMBING AND INSTALLATION
The flow sensors must be installed in the appropriate direction and connected to properly sized aquarium plumbing. Follow the flow-direction markings on each sensor and Neptune Systems’ installation instructions.
Actual readings can be affected by plumbing layout, trapped air, sensor orientation, buildup, and turbulence. Allow sufficient straight plumbing before and after each sensor whenever practical.
The system should be inspected and cleaned periodically to help maintain dependable flow readings.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
• One Neptune Systems FMM Fluid Monitoring Module
• One 1-inch flow sensor with unions
• Two 1/2-inch flow sensors with couplers
• Four 1/2-inch adapter fittings for North American plumbing
• One 3-foot AquaBus cable
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
This kit does not operate as a standalone flow meter. A compatible Neptune Systems Apex controller is required.
Verify your plumbing sizes and expected flow rates before installation. Plumbing modifications, additional fittings, valves, or adapters may be required depending on your aquarium system.
Update your Apex controller to the latest compatible Apex Operating System before installing and configuring the FMK.
Carefully test all Apex programming before allowing flow readings to control pumps or other aquarium equipment.
