IceCap Granular Activated Carbon Filter Media
Keep your aquarium water crystal clear with IceCap Granular Activated Carbon Filter Media. Designed for both freshwater and saltwater aquariums, this high-quality activated carbon helps remove dissolved organics, odors, discoloration, medications, and impurities that can impact overall water quality and aquarium health.
Whether you're running a reef tank, freshwater community aquarium, African cichlid setup, planted tank, turtle tank, or pond system, activated carbon is one of the most important forms of chemical filtration for maintaining clean and stable water conditions.
What Does Activated Carbon Do?
Activated carbon works by adsorbing dissolved contaminants from aquarium water.
It helps remove:
- Yellowing compounds
- Odors
- Organic waste
- Medication residue
- Toxins
- Water discoloration
- Pollutants released by corals and livestock
Cleaner water not only improves the appearance of your aquarium, but also helps improve overall water quality and light penetration.
Why Water Clarity Matters
Many hobbyists focus only on ammonia, nitrate, and phosphate, but dissolved organics can slowly build up over time even in stable aquariums.
This can lead to:
- Yellow tinted water
- Reduced light penetration
- Unpleasant odors
- Reduced coral coloration
- Lower water quality
In reef aquariums especially, cleaner water allows your lighting system to penetrate deeper into the aquarium, helping corals receive more usable light energy. Activated carbon can also help remove toxins released during coral chemical warfare.
Stable and clean water is one of the foundations of a healthy aquarium.
