Experience premium external aquarium filtration with the EHEIM Professionel 4+ 600 Canister Filter. Engineered in Germany for quiet, dependable performance, this high-capacity filter provides customizable mechanical, biological, and chemical filtration for freshwater and saltwater aquariums from approximately 65 to 160 gallons.

The Professionel 4+ 600 features EHEIM’s Xtender function, which can temporarily redirect water around a clogged fine-filter pad when flow begins to decrease. This helps maintain biological filtration and gives you additional time before filter maintenance is required.

A large top-mounted prefilter captures coarse debris before it reaches the primary filtration media. The prefilter can be removed and cleaned separately, helping extend the service life of the main media and reduce complete filter cleanings.

EHEIM Xtender Function

As fine filter media collects debris, water flow can gradually decrease. Turning the Xtender control redirects a portion of the water around the fine filter pad while maintaining flow through the biological filtration media.

This provides additional operating time before cleaning is required. The Xtender feature is intended as a temporary solution and does not replace routine filter maintenance.

Important Sizing Information

Aquarium filtration requirements vary based on stocking level, feeding habits, aquarium type, and maintenance schedule. Heavily stocked aquariums, predator systems, and aquariums containing messy fish may require additional filtration or more frequent maintenance.

The advertised flow rate represents the pump’s maximum output. Actual operating flow may be lower after accounting for filter media, tubing length, aquarium height, plumbing configuration, and normal debris accumulation.
