Appearance & Growth
The Dragon Tamer Torch features long, fleshy tentacles that extend and sway with the aquarium's current, creating constant movement within the reef.
As a branching Torch Coral, healthy specimens can develop additional heads as the colony matures, gradually creating a larger and fuller display.
Color intensity and appearance may vary depending on reef lighting spectrum, intensity, water chemistry, nutrients, and the individual specimen.
Placement
Place the Dragon Tamer Torch on stable rockwork with plenty of surrounding space for full polyp extension.
Torch Corals can produce long sweeper tentacles and deliver a powerful sting to neighboring corals. Generous spacing is recommended, particularly around more sensitive livestock.
Keep future colony growth in mind when selecting its permanent location.
Lighting & Water Flow
Provide low to moderate reef lighting with low to moderate, indirect water movement.
The tentacles should gently sway rather than being continuously blasted in one direction. Excessive direct flow can prevent proper expansion and potentially damage the coral's fleshy tissue.
Gradual acclimation is recommended when introducing the coral to stronger reef lighting.
Feeding & Nutrition
Dragon Tamer Torch Coral receives much of its nutritional needs through photosynthesis but can benefit from occasional supplemental feeding.
Small portions of appropriately sized meaty reef foods or quality LPS foods may be offered periodically.
Maintaining stable calcium, alkalinity, magnesium, salinity, and nutrient levels helps support skeletal growth, coloration, and overall health.
