Placement & Growth

Place AOI Zoanthids where they receive appropriate reef lighting and gentle to moderate water movement without being directly blasted by a powerhead.

Once established, zoanthids can spread across nearby rockwork and develop into larger colonies. Leave adequate space for future growth and consider placing the frag on an isolated rock if you want greater control over where the colony spreads.

Feeding

AOI Zoanthids are photosynthetic and receive much of their energy through their symbiotic zooxanthellae.

Supplemental feeding with appropriately sized coral foods may be offered but is not required when the coral receives suitable lighting and nutrients.

Zoanthids may contain palytoxin, a potentially dangerous toxin.

Wear appropriate gloves and eye protection when handling or fragging zoanthids. Avoid touching your eyes, mouth, or open wounds after handling, and never boil, steam, or expose zoanthids to high heat.
