Automatic Fleece Filtration

Aquarium water is directed through the ReefMat's fleece, where suspended particles and debris are physically captured and removed from circulation.

As debris accumulates and the fleece begins to restrict water flow, the internal water level rises. A sensor detects the change and automatically advances the roll, exposing fresh fleece to the incoming aquarium water.

No washing dirty filter socks every few days. The ReefMat handles the process automatically.

ReefBeat Smart Monitoring

The ReefMat 500 integrates with Red Sea's ReefBeat ecosystem, giving reef keepers smart monitoring of their mechanical filtration system.

The system can track fleece usage and provide information about the ReefMat's operation, helping you stay ahead of replacement-roll changes instead of finding out after the roll is exhausted.

Serious Flow Capacity

The ReefMat 500 is recommended for systems up to 130 gallons / 500 liters and supports a maximum flow rate of 1,580 GPH / 6,000 LPH.

That makes it a strong choice for medium and larger reef systems requiring substantially more filtration capacity than the compact ReefMat 250.

92-Foot Fleece Roll

The ReefMat 500 uses a 4.4-inch-wide fleece roll measuring approximately 92 feet long.

The large filtration area allows the unit to continuously expose clean fleece as used material is collected on the take-up roll.

Replacement fleece rolls are available separately, allowing the ReefMat itself to remain a long-term part of your filtration system.

Integrated Media Basket

The ReefMat 500 also incorporates a media basket, giving aquarists a convenient location for compatible additional filtration media.

This allows mechanical filtration and supplemental media to be integrated into the same area of the sump without requiring another standalone filter housing.

Compatibility

The ReefMat 500 is compatible with a range of Red Sea REEFER systems and can also be installed in other sump-equipped saltwater aquariums when the sump dimensions and plumbing arrangement meet installation requirements.

Some REEFER models provide plug-and-play installation, while others require or recommend removing filter sock holders or other sump dividers. Red Sea maintains model-specific compatibility information for its different REEFER generations.
