Feed your aquarium consistently while integrating every feeding into your Neptune Systems Apex automation with the AFS Automatic Feeding System.
The AFS connects to your Apex through AquaBus and allows you to schedule small, controlled feedings throughout the day. It can dispense compatible pellet or flake foods in adjustable amounts, making it useful for everyday feeding, high-metabolism fish, busy schedules, and vacations.
Because the feeder operates within the Apex ecosystem, feeding can be coordinated with other aquarium equipment. Your Apex can temporarily turn off return pumps, powerheads, or the protein skimmer, activate the feeder, allow the fish time to eat, and then automatically restore normal operation.
The motorized stay-dry system extends the food container during each feeding and retracts it into the housing afterward. A built-in gasket helps protect the food from aquarium humidity, reducing moisture-related clumping and clogging.
IMPORTANT COMPATIBILITY NOTICE
The Neptune Systems AFS is not a standalone automatic feeder. A compatible Neptune Systems Apex controller with an available AquaBus connection is required for power, programming, and operation.

• Automatically feeds compatible pellet and flake foods
• Connects to the Neptune Systems Apex through AquaBus
• Schedule one or multiple feedings throughout the day
• Adjustable portions support small, controlled feedings
• Motorized food container extends during feeding
• Retractable stay-dry design helps protect food from humidity
• Built-in gasket helps reduce clumping and clogging
• Integrates feeding with pumps, skimmers, lights, and other Apex-controlled equipment
• Adjustable mounting bracket fits aquarium rims up to approximately 2 inches
• Dual AquaBus connections support daisy-chaining

SMART APEX FEEDING ROUTINES
The AFS can be incorporated into customized Apex feeding routines. Depending on your aquarium configuration and programming, a feeding routine may:
• Turn off the return pump
• Reduce or stop circulation pumps
• Turn off the protein skimmer
• Dispense one or more portions of food
• Allow time for fish to eat
• Restart pumps and filtration automatically
• Skip or adjust scheduled feedings based on your programming
FOOD COMPATIBILITY
The AFS is designed for appropriately sized dry pellet and flake foods. Food size, shape, and consistency may affect the amount dispensed.
Test the feeder with your chosen food and portion setting before relying on unattended feeding. Frozen, refrigerated, wet, or moist foods should not be placed in the feeder.
STAY-DRY SYSTEM
Aquarium humidity can cause dry food to absorb moisture, cake together, and clog conventional feeders. During each feeding, the AFS automatically extends its food container to dispense the selected portion. After feeding, the container retracts into the housing, where a gasket helps seal it away from moisture.
CAPACITY
Holds approximately 100 mL of most compatible pellet and flake foods.
DIMENSIONS
Approximately 6.25 × 3 × 3.75 inches, including the AquaBus connection.
The food container extends approximately 1.5 inches from the housing during operation. Allow sufficient clearance above the aquarium so food can fall freely into the water.
MOUNTING
The included adjustable mounting bracket accommodates aquarium rims up to approximately 2 inches. Hook-and-loop mounting mounting tape is also included for compatible installations.
MULTIPLE-FEEDER SUPPORT
Two AquaBus connections allow multiple AFS feeders or other compatible AquaBus accessories to be daisy-chained. Multiple feeders can be useful for separate aquariums, different foods, or additional capacity.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
• Neptune Systems AFS Automatic Feeding System
• Adjustable mounting bracket
• 15-foot AquaBus cable
• Hook-and-loop mounting tape
REQUIREMENTS
• Compatible Neptune Systems Apex controller
• Available AquaBus connection
• Compatible dry pellet or flake food
• Apex programming and configuration

IMPORTANT USE INFORMATION
Before leaving the feeder unattended, test multiple feeding cycles using the exact food and portion setting you intend to use. Confirm that the food dispenses consistently and that the mounting position directs food into the aquarium.
Do not overfill the container or use damp food. Regularly inspect and clean the feeder according to Neptune Systems instructions.
