Placement & Aquarium Care

Rock Flower Anemones typically prefer to secure their foot within rockwork, crevices, or along the substrate near a solid surface.

Once they find a suitable location, they often remain relatively stationary compared with many other anemones. However, they are still capable of moving when searching for preferred lighting, flow, or conditions.

Allow the anemone to choose a comfortable position rather than attempting to force it into a specific location.

Lighting & Water Flow

Provide low to moderate reef lighting with moderate water movement.

Flow should be sufficient to gently move the tentacles without directly blasting the anemone with high-velocity water.

As with other reef livestock, acclimation to your aquarium's lighting and flow conditions is recommended.

Feeding

Rock Flower Anemones receive energy through photosynthesis but can benefit from occasional supplemental feeding.

Small portions of appropriately sized marine foods may be offered, including:

Mysis shrimp
Finely chopped shrimp
Krill
Other appropriately sized meaty marine foods

Avoid excessive feeding or offering pieces that are too large for the anemone to comfortably consume.

Reef Compatibility

Rock Flower Anemones can make excellent additions to reef aquariums but possess stinging cells and should be given adequate space from neighboring corals.

Although they are generally less prone to roaming once established, movement is still possible.

Use caution with placement and allow sufficient room around the anemone as it expands.
