Bring one of the reef hobby's most striking natural centerpieces to your aquarium with the First Grade Blue Maxima Clam. Known for brilliant blue coloration, intricate mantle patterns, and dramatic fluorescence under reef lighting, Maxima Clams can become spectacular showpieces in established reef aquariums.
This First Grade Blue Maxima has been selected for its desirable coloration and appearance and is offered at a size of 1.5 inches or larger.
Unlike beginner soft corals, Maxima Clams have more demanding lighting and water-quality requirements and are best suited for established reef systems with strong lighting and stable parameters.

Color & Appearance
Blue Maxima Clams are prized for their intensely colored mantles, which can display brilliant shades of blue along with intricate patterns and contrasting markings.
Each clam is naturally unique. Color intensity, pattern, mantle shape, and overall appearance will vary between individual animals.
Reef lighting spectrum and viewing angle can also significantly affect the clam's apparent coloration.
Aquarium Placement
Maxima Clams prefer a stable location where they can receive strong reef lighting.
Provide a secure surface that allows the clam to attach naturally with its byssal threads. Once attached, avoid unnecessarily moving or forcibly removing the clam.
Maxima Clams are commonly positioned on rockwork where they can receive sufficient light as they grow.
Lighting & Water Flow
Strong reef lighting is essential for long-term Maxima Clam care.
Maxima Clams rely heavily on their symbiotic zooxanthellae for nutrition and should be placed where they receive sufficient light intensity.
Provide low to moderate, indirect water movement. Avoid placing the clam where its mantle is constantly blasted by strong direct flow.
Feeding & Nutrition
Maxima Clams receive a significant portion of their nutritional needs through photosynthesis.
Smaller clams can also utilize suspended microscopic food and dissolved nutrients from the aquarium water.
A mature, biologically established reef system with stable water chemistry is recommended.
Recommended Water Parameters
Temperature: 75–80°F
Specific Gravity: 1.024–1.026
pH: 8.1–8.4
Alkalinity: 8–12 dKH
Calcium: 400–450 ppm
Magnesium: 1250–1400 ppm
Because Maxima Clams build a calcium carbonate shell, maintaining stable calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium levels is important for continued growth.
Avoid sudden changes in salinity, temperature, alkalinity, or other major water parameters.
Compatibility
Maxima Clams are peaceful reef inhabitants and generally compatible with reef-safe fish and corals.
Use caution with fish and invertebrates known to nip at clam mantles, including certain angelfish, butterflyfish, and other opportunistic feeders.
The clam should be able to remain fully open without persistent harassment from tankmates.
Size & Live Animal Notice
You will receive one First Grade Blue Maxima Clam measuring approximately 1.5 inches or larger.
This is not a WYSIWYG listing. Product photos are representative examples.
Every Maxima Clam is unique, and exact size, blue coloration, pattern, mantle appearance, and shell characteristics will naturally vary between individual animals.
Clams may appear partially or fully retracted following shipment and can require time to acclimate and fully extend their mantle.
