Clown Loaches are colorful, social freshwater fish known for their orange bodies, bold black bands, red-orange fins, and playful behavior. They enjoy exploring together and may make soft clicking sounds while feeding.
These fish can eventually reach approximately 12 inches and require a large long-term aquarium. They should not be purchased only for temporary snail control.

Clown Loaches should be kept in groups of at least five or six. Keeping them alone or in small groups may cause stress, hiding, and reduced natural behavior.

Aquarium Requirements
Provide a fully cycled aquarium with stable water conditions, strong filtration, good oxygenation, and plenty of swimming room.
Include smooth driftwood, caves, rounded rocks, plants, and shaded hiding areas large enough for the group. Avoid decorations with sharp edges or openings where fish could become trapped. Sand or a fine rounded substrate is recommended to protect their barbels.
Feeding
Feed a varied diet of quality sinking pellets, wafers, frozen foods, shrimp, worms, insect-based foods, and vegetable matter.
Clown Loaches may eat pest snails, but snails should not be their only food. Feed in multiple areas so every fish can eat.
Tank Mates
Suitable tank mates may include larger barbs, rainbowfish, peaceful cichlids, larger tetras, gouramis, peaceful catfish, and compatible plecos.
Avoid highly aggressive species, very small fish, and tank mates that cannot tolerate warmer water. Compatibility is never guaranteed.
Health and Acclimation
Clown Loaches have delicate scales and may be sensitive to certain medications. Confirm that any treatment is safe for loaches before use.
Keep aquarium lights dim during acclimation. Gradually match the fish to the aquarium’s temperature and water conditions. Never add shipping water to the aquarium. Introduce the group together whenever possible.
