Bring bold contrast and classic dwarf angelfish personality to your saltwater aquarium with the Bicolor Angelfish (Centropyge bicolor).
This striking marine angelfish is easy to recognize by its vivid yellow front half and tail contrasted against a deep blue rear body, with blue coloration extending around the eye. Individuals offered through our Chicago fish supplier are approximately 2–3 inches at the time of sale.
Each fish undergoes a quarantine and observation period before being cleared for shipment, helping provide an additional level of preparation before beginning its overnight journey to your aquarium.
Fish Care
Scientific Name: Centropyge bicolor
Common Name: Bicolor Angelfish
Care Level: Intermediate
Temperament: Semi-Aggressive
Approximate Purchase Size: 2–3 Inches
Approximate Adult Size: Up to 6 Inches
Minimum Aquarium Size: 70 Gallons Recommended
Diet: Omnivore
Reef Safe: With Caution
Aquarium Type: Saltwater / Marine
Aquarium Requirements
The Bicolor Angelfish should be provided with a mature marine aquarium containing plenty of rockwork, caves and hiding areas.
A well-established aquarium with natural algae growth and live rock provides opportunities for grazing throughout the day while also giving the fish secure areas to retreat when necessary.
Because dwarf angelfish can establish territories, adequate swimming room and rock structure are especially important when keeping them with other semi-aggressive marine fish.
Feeding
Bicolor Angelfish are omnivores and should receive a varied diet that may include:
- Marine angelfish preparations
- Spirulina and other algae-based foods
- High-quality marine pellets
- Frozen mysis shrimp
- Enriched brine shrimp
- Chopped marine foods
- Natural algae and marine vegetation
Offering a varied diet helps support coloration, body condition and long-term health.
Reef Compatibility
The Bicolor Angelfish is generally considered reef safe with caution.
Like many dwarf angelfish, individual fish may nip at fleshy corals, clam mantles or other sessile invertebrates. Some individuals coexist successfully in reef aquariums while others may develop undesirable grazing behavior.
For reef systems, careful observation is recommended after introduction.
